Hiking in mount Parnitha national park

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

Parnitha national park is the favorite mountain of Athenian hikers and climbers. Parnitha is a playground for all of us who live around it: hiking, climbing, running and cycling will give us endless hours of play and discovery.

Above all, of course, hiking in Parnitha is an experience. The company of deer, which is enjoyed by almost all visitors, the contact with the turtles that have started timidly to multiply, the wild goats that appear from a safe distance, the foxes that you may encounter on the street those who leave the mountain at night.

And then there's the rich flora: the cyclamen and mushrooms that bear witness to autumn, the yellowed plane trees, the fallen leaves of all kinds of deciduous trees you'll find at low altitudes or the green arched firs higher while you will not miss the water, which you will get from the stone fountains that collect water from the springs of the mountain.

Parnitha, despite having received many human interventions and even devastating fire, has much to offer to the nature lover and especially to hikers, since a large part of it still remains in "virgin" condition.
