Athens is one of the few capitals on the planet that offers a wonderful opportunity for so many hiking and climbing trails within walking distance of the city center. Athens also has beautiful paths to meet in the spring on green mountain slopes, flowery countryside and routes along running waters.

Hiking in Parnitha

Organized or not, hiking in Parnitha is one with the greatest sense of "countryside" and yet it is not more than an hour away from the door of our house. One of the easiest routes you can do yourself as a beginner is the one that starts from the Holy Trinity and ends after two hours in the church of Agios Petros in Mola, crossing the entire fir forest of the Forest and enjoying amazing views of Western Attica and Evoia island. If you prefer organization and both Parnitha shelters, Buffy and Flambouri, can organize beautiful hiking trails under request. Of course, don't forget to check our custom made experiences. A nice idea is also the evening hike, which starts in the afternoon, and lasts around three hours.

Hiking in Hymettus

Many and interesting are the signed paths of Hymittos. One of the most popular routes, with good signage, is the one known as Path No. 5, which crosses almost the entire mountain vertically, starting from the entrance of the Caesarean Sensory Forest and going up to the springs of Kalopoula, before continuing to the tower and tower of An. end up in Peania. In total, the route is 4.3 kilometers long, and to cross it you will need about two and a half hours. If you prefer to be guided, at least on your first excursions, hiking in Hymettus during the evening to enjoy glorious sunset!!

Hiking In Penteli

Less popular but just as beautiful as Parnitha and Hymettus, Penteli is ideal for hiking; One of the most beautiful, and most satisfying, routes you can make is the long circular route that starts from Amadryadon Square in Drosia, and ends there again, having passed through the old quarries of Dionysus, a wonderful pine forest, three very sweet chapels and the old railway station of Dionysos. Its total length is 6.2 km and its duration is about three and a half hours. If you have enough time don't forget to explore the Davelis cave with the mysterious old church at its entrance.

Hiking In Geraneia

Slightly farther away, just an hour from Athens, the Gerania Mountains are famous for their idyllic trails and spectacular sea views that they enjoy. One of the easiest routes you can take is the one known as the Yellow Path, which starts from Osios Patapios near Loutraki and ascends to Pigi Pindiza, passes through flowers and dense forests blooming at this time, before reaching Pisia, and the famous Platanos tavern for the necessary snack that will replenish our lost calories. The total length of the route is 6.3 km, and its duration is about three and a half hours.
